"Good Vibrations, a new supper club jazzes up tranquil Bel Air"
Camille Hahn, Front Desk Magazine -
WHAT IS THERE TO DO ON A WEDNESDAY night in L.A.? It's the eternal question of the mid-week or business traveler, and the answer, surprisingly, has been found deep in quiet Bel Air. That's because Herb Alpert's new restaurant/jazz club Vibrato books its big acts for early in the week. So although the restaurant is certainly crowded on the weekends, on Wednesday nights, there's not an open table to be found.
If you're interested I the jazz (Toots Thielemans, Kenny Warner and Bobby Hutcherson have played here already), choose one of the tables or banquettes that form a horseshoe around the small stage, or just grab a seat at the wood and granite bar. If you're there for the food, or just want to enjoy a conversation with friends, ask for a table on the balcony, which has a great view of the stage but is a little more private.
Vibrato's Chef has made some nice additions to the menu of classic steakhouse fare. Take, for instance, the Pounded Veal Chop Parmagiana, which rivals the steaks in size and is served with a homemade mozzarella. Or try the beef short ribs, which are braised and served with spring carrots and caramelized turnips.
